Hello, I'm Anna Davenport, founder of Silver Nutshell Jewellery and Silver Metal Clay Courses.

I love anything creative and especially enjoy filming tutorials and making jewellery with silver metal clay. As a former Editor and Publisher of craft magazines and digital products, I love writing about it too. It's why I began writing and selling digital Silver Metal Clay Guides. I love an ETSY stat! I mainly sell my Guides on Etsy, which tells me that I now have customers in 780 cities in 45 countries around the world. I love that.

I am known for sharing lots of silver metal clay techniques and my best top tips three or four times a day on Instagram. I've also written a couple of INSTAGRAM GUIDES. Instagram is a game and if you want to play the game, you can get all my insider secrets in these NEW INSTAGRAM Guides.

If you want to learn how to make beautiful jewellery using this magical product, then you're in the right place. I share a lot of techniques and top tips @silvernutshell on Instagram >> thank you if you're already following me. If not, follow me and let's go on this journey together!

"Life is only limited by the time you can spend doing something creative"

I take after my Mom, Doris, who taught me the joy of making, and my Dad, who was Hungarian and instilled in me from a young age, that life gives back so much more when you are generous and kind. His story is one of courage and I like to think that I am courageous, stepping out into new adventures and connecting with creatives all around the world.

My Mom, who sadly passed away in 2023, left a legacy of quilting and knitting. Yes, quilts, tablemats, gloves, hats and so many handmade pieces that make me smile every day. What legacy do you want to leave? How do you want to be remembered? I am pretty sure that my legacy will be counted in encouraging more people to be creative. Where would we be without creativity?

I love what I do and I love to share what I've learnt with others. We grow up, giving up on lots of the creative skills that we did as children. I'm here to reconnect with you and show you that anyone can make jewellery, launch a creative business and do arty things. I see it as an escape from devices, from the relentless routines we all get caught up in. Being creative allows us some 'me time' and that's good for the soul.

I began filming video courses back in 2023, because a few of you got in touch and asked me to. It's that simple. You told me that you loved my Silver Metal Clay PDF Guides (thanks if you've bought one!) but wanted to learn in-person from me, but were living in different parts of the world. That spurred me on to learn how to do it! It took me a few months to learn what online video platform to use, how to record the best quality videos and I discovered that I would need to build a brand new website to host them on. Hence, where you are now!

As a trained silversmith, I launched Silver Nutshell Jewellery in 2019, making nature jewellery. In 2023, I created a collection for Westonbirt, the national arboretum in the Cotswolds. I also won the Muddy Stilettos Award for Best Jeweller in Glos and Worcs in 2022. I love a milestone!

When I launched my first online video course in 2024, I decided to do things differently. I love sharing what I know with you and keeping my courses affordable and delivering great value is still what drives me to create more courses, and also share so much technique and top tips on instagram @silvernutshell

I added website builder to my long list of accomplishments, and in March 2024, I launched my first course for beginners. That's The Silver Metal Clay MEGACOURSE, which remains one of my best sellers. I've since launched two more what I call, my BIG COURSES, my RINGMAKING MASTERCLASS and ENAMELLING MADE EASY.

I am of an age where I know what my strengths are. I have a pattern of behaviour and learnt a long time ago that if I'm going to do anything then I will need to immerse myself in it. I can't do half measures. It's either 'all in' or 'not at all! My life's passion for entering contests such as Masterchef, Bake Off, (cookery being another passion of mine) has led to some interesting experiences. I should and will share more one day. It's how I know that if you put the maximum effort into something that you want to learn, you can be pretty good at it.

I'll admit that it is how I used to launch new magazines. As launch Editor and Publisher of some of Britain's best selling craft magazines, I could never ask anyone to do anything that I didn't know how to do myself. That's the reason why I have spent hours with stampers, cardmakers, knitters, lace makers and so many talented people over the years. I love process. I soak it up like a sponge. I don't need to have a finished piece. I just need to learn how something works and the steps to get from start to finish. That's what inspires me every single day.

Aside from jewellery making, I also love painting, drawing, designing, cooking and writing the most. I also love my family history. I am the archivist and curator of 'stuff'. I always laugh that chopping onions is my therapy, and we all need more of that in our lives.

I know many of you have learnt a lot of silver metal clay techniques from watching my ASK ANNA Q&A VIDEOS which you can find in The Silver Clay Cafe. Visit this link to join
