ART TO KEEP - LETTERS TO TREASURE

Your monthly botanical escape from the digital noise, sent from the heart of the Cotswolds

Every month, I film a short video, or two, for you to enjoy. If you've scanned the QR code on this month's letter, you can see where I am this month.

APRIL

VIDEO 1 >> The first video was taken at St Mary's Church where I often walk Misha, the family dog. It's become one of my favourite places. I love watching the seasons change during the year, taking a moment to read the gravestones, the oldest of which dates back to 1647. I love the smell of the rain in the early morning, and it's rained A LOT in England, this year. I've actually been up in the Bell Tower of St Mary Church. It's such a tight squeeze up a tiny, narrow staircase, but definitely worth it for the magnificent view!

There has been a site of Christian worship here since at least the 7th century, possibly originating as a Saxon monastery around 681 AD. The current building is pretty huge for a small town, and dates back to 1781.

VIDEO 2 >> The second video is taken at Chipping Steps, a medieval landmark in Tetbury. They are a historic set of steep, stone-flagged steps and a former, ancient, sunken path, which was paved in 1781. The 17th century weavers cottages date back to when Tetbury, as with many Cotswold towns were famous for their thriving wool trade.

VIDEO 3 >> The third video is one from going down the bell tower steps at St Mary's. All I'll say is that if it was a squeeze going up, it seemed almost impossible to manoeuvre through the narrow doorway to get back down to the bottom. The tower is 57 meters (187 ft) high.
